Interface between Desktop Clients using IM and VoIP
X-on's SMS and Voice Gateway provides a flexible two-way communications interface between desktop clients using Instant Messaging and Voice Over IP protocols and mobiles.
A unique aliasing system of mobile style numbers enables a mobile contact to communicate with someone on a single number, via text or voice and regardless of whether that person is on an IM client, VOIP client, mobile or landline.
X-on's platform offers IM and VOIP providers revenue generating opportunities and can be extended into value added premium chat, workgroup, reminder and corporate services.

Desktop to MobileA typical communication may involve an Instant Message from a desktop user to a known mobile contact. Via X-on's gateway, the sender is assigned an alias mobile number during the sending process. This will look like a normal mobile number. The alias will become a permanent number and the contact will be able to respond by SMS or voicemail. When the response is by SMS, the sender will normally receive it as an Instant Message. If the sender does not have voice capabilities and the contact calls back, a voicemail message can be taken and a link to that message, or the message as an email attachment can be returned. Hence, the X-on gateway offers both real time and asynchronous messaging. The alias number assigned to the 'sending' contact is permanent and can also be used for mobile-mobile SMS and Voice communications using landline, SIP or other protocols. |

Application : Corporate MonitoringBy assigning static, rather than dynamic, alias numbers to each member of an organization, a number can be a single point of contact for an individual, by phone, SMS, IM or email. The number is independent of underlying technologies and direct numbers. This means a staff member can change mobiles or use a private number and these do not need to be revealed in staff directories. When someone leaves, administration of the numbers stays in one place. Transactions and voice recording can be enabled at the gateway which means a full record of both voice calls and SMS is available from the administration web site. This can include a record-on-demand service for outbound mobile calls and SMS, important in some industries. |
Application : Mobile Marketing - Bulk SMS
| Bulk SMS to an opted-in and targeted database is an effective marketing tool. X-on's gateway gives prospective customers more direct ways to respond to promotional messages. Individual campaigns, or even groups of prospects, can be given dedicated response numbers without the need to rent or purchase these.
When a prospect responds to the SMS, the response can be handled by X-on's PhonePresence Virtual Call Centre and put through to the appropriate agent. Screen popping or data integration can show the content of the promotion that is being responded to and any additional information about the client. X-on's outbound bulk SMS use only high quality routes directly connected to the networks for maximum success rate and speed of delivery. SMS costs are extremely competitive. |

Application : Appointment Reminders
With a similar mechanism to Mobile Marketing, the SMS and Voice gateway can be used as a stand-alone or integrated Appointment Reminder system. X-on has experience of integrating with third party Point of Sale and Appointment systems.
Reminders via SMS or Voice can be responded to by SMS or Voice. A customer can respond to an appointment reminder with a voice call that is routed through to the agent or branch where their appointment is, so a booking can be confirmed or rescheduled.
Application : Contact and Chat Services
The virtual numbering scheme allows mobile and non-mobile contacts to exchange voice and text messages and profiles anonymously. This forms the basis of a virtual chat service that can be monetized through premium SMS or other billing mechanisms.
X-on's TexTalk chat and date service is one of the UK's largest and several million messages are exchanged monthly. X-on can provide unbranded services and consultation with regard to regulatory approval or integration with other systems and database.

Integration
X-on provides integration services with third parties and a published API based around Web Services. Support is available for XMPP and SIP protocols and components are available for integration with packages via VB and .NET.
Internally, the gateway integrates with the PhonePresence range of virtual switchboard and virtual call centre products, plus X-on's micro-billing platform to bill clients via SMS, Premium Voice and credit card.
